    Default Probe instructions

can someone point me to some info about how to set up and run the probe. I did the copy machine thing and the probe slammed into the table 3 times before I could stop it. I'm slow.

    thanks

Thanks gary, those were the instructions that I got when I bought the probe from SB. I used the default settings but I don't know if the probe is supposed to be z zeroed on the object or what. I just know that when I ran the program it just went up and down, that's when I stopped it.

But thank you for the reply

    Bill,
My probe was doing the same thing and it was my z-zero plate was touching metal and grounding it.I
disconnected the plate and ran fine. Thanks to Bill Young for that info.

Thanks michael, my zero plate is in it's holder so it is grounded. Where do I place the probe? On the table or on the object, next to it? And do I use the plate to zero it again or just leave it alone?

    Bill...
You need to make sure that your Zzero plate is NOT touching ground so that the probe can work. Check on the control software input light #1 should be off. With the probe installed, you should be able to touch the tip and make input #1 light come on.

The Zzero plate I don't believe is an issue. Take the probe and while watching the control panel touch the probe pushing the pin up and see if the light blinks on the control panel. If it does not then the connector more than likely is wired wrong. My plugin for my probe was on the wires for the zzero plate and came wired from SB. I just would plug it in right at the carriage.
After breaking my probe 3 times we finally figured out that the connector was wired wrong and had to change wires.
If the light does not blink when you touch probe you would be best to call SB and let them guide you thru changing the wires. They sent me a little tool that unclipped the wires in the connector and guided me thru wiring it correctly.
BTW you don't use the zzero plate to find your surface.
