    Default Fretwork

    25556.jpg Reference drawing was about 1"x 3"
Scanned in and traced over in AutoCad
I attempted to create hand drawn look with subtle irregularities.
The pattern had to be created to fill up a 12" X 96" board to be installed as door surrounds.
    I made 4 of these.

The panels were machined 1/4" deep and a relief cut at the weave point. All of the remaing detail was hand done.
On the first one I was getting tear out in the field, a new router bit helped reduce that problem.
The final back ground was stamped out with leather tool.

For me would be interesting to discuss detailing tricks and other software options for projects like this. I have only dabbeled in projects like this. It would be fun to get better at it even for only personal projects.

Nice Robert, I don't have any information on finishing for you but I do like it.

    Frank,

    Thanks for your comments.

I had good help with the hand detailing and yes it's more work than any one imagined. It gets my mind thinking about new tools for stamping background textures.
