    Default Probe

Can someone tell me if the probe that ShopBot has for sale is a toy or is it worth the money?? I am interested in one but only want a quality product. Does it work well or not?

I have an OEM ShopBot probe and I think it is a quality item. I have only probed 2D parts and it worked as advertised for me.

I guess it depends on what you are going to use it for. I purchased mine with my machine about 18 months ago. I have used it many times on different projects. To trace a pattern of a part we wanted to copy, to copy a stock profile of some casing to make arched casing. We even copied 1/2 of a duck decoy, just to see if we could. I would purchase it again if I had the choice. Im sure I will use it many more times. Hope this helps

If you only nead to do a 2D trace you can just use a steel dowel rod and foil tape.

Does the probe have the ability to define sharp cornors, like a square edge without damage to it?
