this is a new design I hd been working on for sometime now. As you can tell it is stained red oak and the size is 36" x 36". this will be hanging in the reception area of a doctors office.

Andre... very nice. What was the carve time? I'm designing something with a similar idea, a ceiling fan medallion. I'm still waiting for my Aspire DVD to arrive but it's the first carving project on my agenda. My wife wants a custom medallion for each celing fan.

    Thanks.
There was approximatly 6 hours of machining. Keep in mind the size and intricacy and the fact that I used 4-5 different bits. The outer squares took about 1 hour.

Is that Poplar? What is the finish? I like how it looks brown in one pic and a redish color in another or are they different ones? The closeup looks like oak? Very nice.

    Andre,
Beautiful job! Nice combination of V-carving and 3D relief work. Thanks for posting!

oops, i guess i just missed that part. I guess it's time to get the glasses perscription updated. The unfinished picture (first one) looked like the green you see in poplar.
