Connection Problems

Trying to re-tweek a few things on a new hard drive for a Shopbot laptop, Windows XP. 48 48 prt w/4g.

I get prompted for the firmware load each time, which I believe is installed correctly.

The SB3 seems to find the bot on com 4. It will move the x,y or z a short distance and then says "no com return."

The software says the tool is "still in motion" when it is not, and the stop buttons or spacebar or "s key" do not do anything at this point.

A blue out 4 light comes on.

I have to shut down the Shopbot program with cntr/alt/del and then restart.

ATEN USB to Serial bridge is on COM 4.

Any ideas ?? thanks
