I contacted shopbot about the power requirements for my Alpha control panel and they sent me the correct wiring diagram for my (older 3rd owner) tool, it was produced with/for a spindle and a router (has 3 contactors) My 1st gen PRS alpha had a 30A 110V circuit and a 40A 220 circuit to power it. In the new diagram it calls for a single 60A 220V circuit and here is where my questioning begins. The disconnect and contactors are rated at 40A and will only accept 8 gauge wire. There is only 10ga wire between the disconnect and the spindle contactor. A 60A circuit requires 6ga. wire which will be impossible to install to the disconnect. The amp draw for a 4hp spindle is 13.5A (746Watt per HP X 4 ÷220V = 13.56A) and 3 stepper drivers at 6A draw would be 18A totaling 31.5A draw even with the 2 DC power supplies this would be around 80 % draw on a 40A circuit. This does not make sense could someone shed some light on this? DD
