Are you surprised that a woman would buy a CNC?

Look at all the members here, how many are women? This forum and woodworking in general are heavily male. Not making a judgement, just making an observation.

I'm sure your comment wasn't meant to harm of be derogatory.

However if does come off as a bit tone deaf. I can't speak for what it's like to be a woman in woodworking/CNC, but if someone made a comment like that about me being a male I'd feel pretty unwelcome. Again, I'm sure you didn't mean it like that. Just trying to make the distinction between what you mean vs what was heard.

It's worth nothing that there are women doing some incredible things in CNC/Woodworking. A few that come to mind:

    Lindsay Neathawk: https://www.neathawkdesigns.com/ourwork
-She does some incredible carvings and signs. Very underrated for the talent she has.
-Look at that massive carving she did

    Pink Soul Studios: https://www.pinksoulstudios.com/

    April Wilkerson: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v...P0RbmAzhp4IFkQ
-Huge following on YouTube and instagram. She's done some mind blowing projects over the years. She started out with one ShopBot and now runs an entire CNC shop

    Sami Lee Woolisher: http://www.samileestudio.com/
-Sami has done a ton of CNC projects and content creation around CNC use. She runs marketing and customer outreach for Avid CNC and does a hell of a job. She really understands CNC users better than most.

    Sally Coyle: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sallye-coyle-83565226/
-Let's not forget Sallye. Badass CNC trainer and user for ShopBot

And lastly, ShopBot's CEO is Jeane Taylor: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeannedtaylor/

There are certainly more, those are just the ones I've met/worked with.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify. I didn't mean it to be derogatory. It was an observation from my limited knowledge based on who posts here. I have a daughter and two daughter-in-laws who are all successful in their chosen fields and I'm married to a retired teacher who taught third grade for 30 years. I have nothing but respect for women and know that they can do whatever they wish.

There are fields where women are under represented. NASCAR, INDY CAR and professional motorcycle racing are some that come to mind. It's not that a woman couldn't be successful in those fields, the facts are that there are very few even in the sport.
