On May 2,2009 we'll be holding our first Camp in Houston, TX at Cypress Millworks, owned by Hector Noriega.
This Camp will focus on using a Shopbot in a "production setting". Grant Bailey will be co-hosting the Camp with Hector and here is his description of what they are planning; "The theme for our camp will be commercial millwork. We will be looking at the business as a whole with CNC as an integral component. Topics discussed and presented will include quoting, business planning, software and CNC integration. Time will be allotted for networking and there will be a live casework manufacturing demonstration. Local vendors and business owners will be present, coffee, snacks and lunch will be provided." More details will follow in the next few weeks, and for any specific info you can contact Grant at; gobailey "at" gmail.com |

Count me in. I am on the southwest side of Houston and trying to figure out how to do case work. Perfect. Kenneth

Great to hear it, Ken. Hector will be demonstrating casework manufacturing at the camp. He uses Microvellum software, which is very sophisticated and very capable. I think it will be very interesting; I am looking forward to seeing him in action myself. There will be other folks there building cabinets with much simpler tactics and some in the middle, I would anticipate. I think you will get a great opportunity to see a cross-section of different approaches to building casework on the ShopBot.

Hot off the presses: Russell Schulze, an officer of Wachovia Bank will be speaking at the camp. He will be talking about business finance, specifically what to focus on in order to make your company appealing to a bank for obtaining loans. Thanks Russell!

I am the owner of a 96 alpha that I am currently trying to make fully functional and reliable all the time. I live in the woodlands and am very interested in making a part time business out of this. I would love to make it to this Camp. Is there a cost to this camp or anything we else we need to know?
I would imagine my Father and myself would be attending. |

Samuel, just send Bill Palumbo an email at campshopbot@shopbottools.com
letting him know you will attend with your Dad. Grant Bailey at gobailey@gmail.com can also help you. The cost is just your time and travel from the Woodlands to the camp. ShopBot even supplies the lunch. Hope to see you there and hopefully you can meet some of the ShopBot owners in the area. There are some real good ones in Houston. I am in the Austin crowd. Poke around the forum here and you can find an awful lot of information. Go to the "support" section on the ShopBot site and look around. Good to have you on the forum. Have fun! |

Samuel,
Mike is correct. Grant Bailey will be heading up the Houston Camp so if you'll just drop him a note he'll be able to fill in all of the pertinent details... |

This just in: Bob Denfield from the Service Corps of Retired Executives will be speaking at the camp. His topic will be business planning - Bob will discuss the basics of how to make a business plan is as well as a few finer points from his experience. He'll be on hand for lunch to have a bite and answer specific questions for people as well.
