The Maker Faire in San Mateo is May 30-31st this year, so once again we'll be having Camp on the Friday before...May 29. It will be held at the Fairgrounds where the Maker Faire is held, is free, is open to anyone, starts at 9, and ends when it ends. And as an added bonus it looks like one of the Vectric guys will be there.
This year we'll have a couple of Buddys there that will be available for purchase, so if you're interested in getting a Buddy, want to save the shipping costs, and can pick it up at the Fairgrounds on Sunday at the end of the Maker Faire, get in touch with Dianne at ShopBot and she can give you the details. We'll post more details as they evolve, but wanted to make sure that everyone had it on their calendars. http://makerfaire.com/ Bill |

Here's a quick update to answer some of the questions we've been receiving about this Camp.
At the moment we have a few sessions set up. Ted Hall will discuss the features included in the latest version ( 3.6x) of the Shopbot control software. There are many new features being added, and this will be a great way to learn about them. Brian Moran of Vectric will be on hand to answer questions about the latest updates to Partworks, and Aspire. We'll also try to arrange a demo of Aspire for those of you who haven't seen it in operation yet. As mentioned above we'll have a couple of Buddys on hand ( and if you are thinking about buying one this would be a great way to save a LOT of money on shipping a tool to the West Coast...). We will probably do some cutting on Friday afternoon ( both 2D and 3D) for new people interested in seeing how the machines work, so if you've wanted to SEE a machine in operation, this is a great opportunity. And as usual the Maker Faire itself will be being built all around us on Friday ( it's "assembly/setup day"), so you might see anything from 50 foot bicycle powered rattle snakes, to robotic chimpanzees..... Keep an eye here for further updates as they develop. PS- Please send us a note at; campshopbot "at"gmail .com to let us know that you plan to attend. This will help us plan accordingly with supplies, food, etc. Thanks ! |

I couldn't post this yesterday because it hadn't been "formally announced" yet , but that was yesterday...
There will also be a session in San Mateo regarding the new link between Shopbot and Thermwood which will enable Shopbotters to use the E Cabinets software; http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/mes...tml?1239212841 And there may still be some other surprises between now and then as well... |

Here are a few sessions we've included on the agenda;
Ted Hall will discuss "New Business Opportunities for the ShopBot community" "Using Aspire" (Brian Moran from Vectric will be on hand...) "Using E-Cabinets" We'll have some info about the new Shopbot "Automatic tool changer" ( but we will NOT have one on hand for this event as we're bringing a few "Buddys" with us for the Maker Faire...). And you'll be able to get a peek at the "San Mateo Studio" project Bill Young is currently working on; http://www.physicaldesignco.com/get%...templates.html Again we're asking for you to drop us a note if you plan to be there so we can plan accordingly... |

Here are the details about the machines we'll be taking to San Mateo for Maker Faire:
We'll be taking two tools. The first is a PRSalpha BT48 Buddy. The 48 Buddy will be complete with caster kit. It will have a 2.2HP HSD single-phase spindle on it. The second tool is a PRSstandard BT32 Buddy with caster kit and a Porter Cable router. If you've been thinking about purchasing a Buddy, we'll be leaving one or both of these machines with lucky new ShopBotters on the west coast. If you purchase one of these machines, you'll be getting a completely assembled Buddy that you can pick up after the Maker Faire, saving yourself $950-$1,000 in shipping. We'll also be bringing a 4' PowerStick, so whoever purchases his or her Maker Faire Buddy first will have the option of also purchasing the PowerStick. If there are any questions, or if you'd like to get a SOLD sign placed on one of these ShopBot Buddys, give Dianne a call here at the shop. If you purchase one of these Buddys before we pack up for San Mateo, we can also bring any additionally purchased accessories to save you even more on shipping. |

Update:
Roger Kirkpatrick will be on hand to discuss his experience with the new "E Cabs/Shopbot " cabinet software "link". If you've been keeping up with some of the other threads on the Forum you'll know that Roger has been with this package for awhile, and he'll give a brief discussion on how he's incorporated it into his business. We're only a few weeks away from the Camp/Faire so again we'll ask that you please let us know if you plan to attend. We have a LOT going on that weekend, and it will really help us in our arrangements if we know how many people we're going to be working with. Thanks ! |
