so far I have only found tapered endmills. but the cost is very high the carbide ones are about 150.00 each. hss are about 40.00 any idea's? I am cutting 1/2" Baltic birch with the bit. myself I would rather put the angle on with my tablesaw.

Contact Fred at Centurion and get a quote on a custom bit.

He would have to have a grinder that could handle that angle. I doubt it would cost less. it seem the steeper the angle the more it costs in a endmill.
I could handle a router bit with a flat tip with just a beveled edge.

How do you know until you ask?

I have asked him about custom bits. he does not want to do it for one bit. even so I doubt it would cost less then the endmills already made.
I could have a custom router bit made. but I am trying to find a cost effective bit.

Steve...
I have seen these somewhere. They are made to put engled edges on planter side pieces, etc. with 5,6 and 8 sides. I cant remember where I saw them.

Gary,

Are these what you are thinking of:

I went to Lee Valley because I knew they had them. But I think other major bit makers have them also.

Gary,

I think that what you are thinking of are called Birdsmouth Bits. Most bit suppliers have them. MLS etc. Just had a quick look but cant locate my catalog.

You may be able to find a vertical panel raising bit in 15 degrees, MCLS has a chamfer bit that is 15 deg. (#7678) but it has a bearing. If you don't need it to plunge I've taken off the bearing of bits and ground the stub off. Also look into dove tail cutters MCLS also has them in 15 deg. but only 1/2" of cutting edge.
