Hi, I am interested in doing some wooden projects with local High School names and logos on them. Is there any legal issues associated with doing this? Maybe permission is needed from someone to do this. I notice a lot of t-shirt shops doing school names and logos?? Any info on this matter or situation you have experienced would be appreciated. Thanks Doug

I don't think any "Local School" would care.
They would enjoy seeing their names on anything.
As far as the legal issues are. . .I don't think anybody would care either.
It's not like taking the NFL stuff and marketing it for profit.

Call the schools and ask for permission. My wife owns an embroidery business and all of the local schools were more than happy to give her written permission. The calls alone generated some business from the schools.

Doug, One project the high schools near me liked was graduation plaques. I contacted the principal first to get permission, then the people in charge of fund raisers. They marketed the plaques, handled all the orders and money, and kept half the cost to go into whatever fund they decided. All I had to do was route the school mascot, "Class of ????" and the first name.

James,

I would like to see photo of your plaques you do for the high school. I looked on your website but I couldn't find any pictures.

I think it is a great idea.
