This is our latest sign that we did for a small community college cafe. We have had out Shopbot for only a year and a half, and at that only use it part-part-time. I would like for my dad to retire someday but we need to figure out our niche and get more business! Oh well. Thanks for any and all replies.

conceptually very nice. Everything i have ever done could be improved on after it is finished if i had no limits on cost, materials, zoning, deadlines, design etc.
commendable job.

Nice. What material is the sign?
Do you free hand paint the letters or use a masking material.
I am not a sign maker but have made a few.

Thanks for the great feed back. I am the one taking the pic!
The sign is made of 1x12 Cedar, and it was hand painted using One Shot (which I think is the only way to go).

The best part of the sign, is the posts on either side will be flush with the wall. I thought it would look cheesy the other way. Thanks,

Jason

1 shot is the best paint that I have come across for sign painting

I just googled it and came up with a quick link you can read a bit about it.

This sign will be inside all the time. So for indoors we used regular lacquer, and then 1 shot over top of that. For exterior signs we use the same routine, but instead of lacquer we use a Marine Varnish.

Hi Jason

Very nice work.
The only thing I would comment on to help you improve future signs would be to leave more of a margin of empty space at the top and bottom than you have on this sign.

There is a great book which explains this concept, called "Mastering Layout" by Mike Stevens. "On the art of eye appeal"

One Shot also makes an exterior grade sealer/top coat to go over its finishes. Works very well.
