I've done a video that shows my 'bot cutting a bit of aluminum for my simulator project.

Before you watch the video, understand that this is NOT how to safely operate a ShopBot! You'll see at least two glaring operation errors, including forgetting to restart the spindle after stopping it to make an adjustment and putting my tender fingers WAY too close to the cutter in an attempt to place painters tape over newly opened holes to retain vac hold.

This video is nearly as much of a How Not To as it is a How To.

Enjoy!

Gene,

How thick was the piece and what feed and speed did you use? Also what size and type bit?

The material was .062 6061 aluminum, the bit was a "generic" 1/8" 2 flute end mill. If memory serves, the speed was 12,000 and the feed rate was .5"/sec.

I was taking multiple passes at .0313 each pass.
