This is a nice little free app that lets you look at stl files quickly. I just installed it so i haven't explored it fully but it looks handy and the price is right: http://www.3d-tool.de/english/cad-viewer-download.htm

Thanks for the tip Jack, it works great.
I have a lot of Vector Art 3D files that still have the original numbers attched to the file names and now this is an easy way to see what the hell I have and rename them.

Thanks again,

Tom in PA

On a related note i have some .art and .rlf files i made and under windows XP when i look at them in a folder i can see a icon image of the file but now that i am running windows 7 i can no longer see what the file is. Can anyoine tell me whether you can see files under windows7 as the icon image of the file in the folder?

I found this info somewhere:

"In the Folder Options of Windows, "Always show icons, never thumbnails" must be checked due to which you must be not able to see thumbnails for the art and relief files. To make the Thumbnails enable try following the below mentioned steps,
Go to Start --> Program --> Accessories --> Window Explorer and click on it. This will load the Window Explorer after which go to "Organize" and select "Folders and Search Options" from the menu, In the folder options menu select the "View" tab and then uncheck the option "Always show icons, never thumbnails" which will display the thumbnails for the files."

this didn't work.....
