View Full Version : Aspire V2.5 Post Processor?

I finally managed to get my ShopBot up and running just before Christmas (last) and was very impressed with the things it can produce (see pic if I manage to load it correctly). It got me right out of trouble as I had a rush order, the SB was the only working machine I had that was big enough.

Since then, I've been so busy with other stuff I've had to leave it. The only thing I did do in the interim was to load the upgraded SB software and Aspire V2.5 upgrade patch that came around the same time. Now I want to get back to my SB and begin to use it more, but I have a problem;

The new post processors in Aspire V2.5 don't seem to match the previous ones, and the machine I have?

My Machine is a 96 x 48 PRStandard fitted with a spindle. I need speed control for that, and I use inches not MM's normally. The only PP that seems to match has 'Toolchange' added but I don't need that. Do I just select this PP and ignore the toolchanges?

TIA

Steve

Steven...
Look in your C:\Program Files\Aspire**\PostP folder. You will find one called ShopBot Old...and a few other folders. Your old posts will be in there. Move the ones you want to the PostP folder. (you can remove the ones that you dont want also)

That should get you what you need

More problems I'm afraid, I hope someone can help please?

Taking Gary's advice (thanks again Gary) I found the ShopBot original PP file and I think I managed to paste that into the right place. Great, all set then...

Erm, no!

When I load a part file (just to cut air for now) the yellow window hangs on line 7. then I get a new window message pop up;

'FILE NOT FOUND (c:\sbParts\Custom\Custom9.sbc)'

I'm lost!:D

I think it's looking for a tool changer.

You may need to pick a different post processor if you don't have a tool changer.

Even though the final extension on that should be sbp instead of sbc

I went back and looked and the extension is correct that you had.

Without a toolchanger that file should just have end in it.

if the file is missing, you can create one with that exact name and put

end

those 3 letters are all it needs to continue.

Steven...
Kenneth is correct. You have chosen a postP that is for a toolchange machine. You need to select one without the word "toolchange" in the name.

Thanks all.

I'm sure I chose the PP I used before the upgrade after copying it across but maybe it has failed to work for some reason. I'll try again today, clearly something is wrong with the PP as is.

Hi All,

Sorry for not replying eariler, my mixed luck is to blame I'm afraid...
I Found the problem on the Shopbot (more later!) but the third world (only just!) internet service we have here went down at the same time. I've spent all my spare time fixing that.

The SB fault was all mine, I had correctly installed the 'ShopBot Arc (inch)w/speed (*.sbp)" Post processsor from the saved/moved files but then the phone rang. When I finally got back to it, I loaded a toolpath, but chose a similar one that had been created using the unusable 'Toolchange' Post Processor.....Hence the 'file not found' stuff. So, it was right, but wrong!

I also think that I'm still running the earlier version of ShopBot control software even though I installed the later V2.5, I see no difference in it, but think that is because of where the shortcut points, i.e. to the old version. There is a thread about that already (SB Forum).

Anyhow, thanks to all, together we fixed it and it is making dust once more.

Steven,

The shopbot control sofware and the (partworks v2.5) are different programs all together.

Also your shortcut that says it's an earlier version of 2.0 partworks should be opening the newer version (2.5)

Just look under help/about after you have the program open and you will see which one is running.

Well thank you for your kind help Ken., I'll check all that.

BTW, I just re-read my earlier post and must point out that at no time did the ShopBot make the phone ring......Hmm, but then again, maybe a machine that makes customers ring you could be a good idea.....:D
