I am going to do a job of drill 2" deep holes along apiece of lumber. but I am debating on using a 5/16" endmill and peck drilling to keep the hole clean or use a bradpoint bit with 4k rpm. there are 20 holes in a row on each tool path so not a huge amount of work with each run.

I would try the brad point bit . The other bit 5/16 will generate too much heat and can possibly cause a fire quickly . I tried to do some 1/4" holes 1/2" deep and had a lot of burning with that. make sure to post the results , a lot of botters will learn from this:rolleyes:

well drilled the holes today no problems. but it was cheap hd 2x2's and they all splintered on top. I use a high quality bradpoint bit brand new. I drilled 1536 holes and it seemed fine.
