I got contacted by one of the bigger sign companies to do some 3d work. here they have two big cnc routers but but they have no clue how to do 3d. the first jobs were domes for plastic forming but I am finish up a dairy queen mold and just got a email for two fast food signs. hows that for a niche market. http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s266/knighttoolworks/cnc%203d%20work/MobilePhotoApr22010115638PM.jpg

Steve, did you cut a glue up or are they slices reassembled?

I did a glue up. the first ones I used weights and the edges chipped. this time I vacuum bagged it before I cut it.
I just get a kick out of it that they have fantastic machines but can only do a little with them.
here are a couple more I just did. these were dirt easy I just used a pen to mark the location of the parts. got to sand the bondo off still

Its not the size of the machine, its what you do with it. :D

Steve,
Its funny how some companies purchase these awesome machines and get stuck doing ONLY what they bought them for. It takes the creativity out of the programmer/operator which turns a job into a job. We all need to be creative and thats why I love watching this forum.

I did want to mention that if these are for a vaccum form be careful with Bondo, it does not expand he same as the wood with the heat and sometimes leaves a dimple in the finished product.

Nice work

I got tow more jobs this morning. going to be a pain one is 10.5' long and 3" thick. I found out why I am doing it because they are not setup for wood dust collection. Plus they don't knwo how to do some of these things.
I asked about the bondo bu8t they told me they use it all the time.
