Installing a new aggregate that is 55 lbs on my PRS Alpha
I know this is 5 lbs over the official rating. Some of that has to
do with the overall weight on the gantry. I will be pulling off
a 40 lb aggregate and an air drill. So the net will be close.

I am going to need some very strong springs for the Z (A actually).

Anyone have any recommendations?

I never got springs to fully counteract the old one but, I think I would be pushing my luck now that I am at the top of tolerances.
I have been told to look at McMaster Carr but, I have a hard time understanding the ratings.

Bob...
To get an idea.... mic the coil diameter and diameter of your existing springs. Yhat will give you a baseline. Look for a spring that is 10% (or your choice) heavier. You should also get a rating of the OEM spring.

Another option is to install 1 or 2 smaller springs inside of the oem.

Here is a part # for one I used: 9640K13 (http://www.mcmaster.com/itm/find.asp?searchstring=9640K13&sesnextrep=128808477826966&tab=find&FastTrack=False&WRCntxt=OrdHist) (McMaster)

Hey Joe, I've been thinking about using an air spring, but this is the first I've heard about adding a regulator to an air cylinder. Can you furnish a source for more information??
