I cut this today to go by my showroom door. I don't do a lot of 3D but this was a fun project. It's roughly 8.5x8.5 and cut in solid surface material. I'm still getting the "skipping" marks in the flat areas but I think those are from mechanical play in the machine. If you have any ideas on what this could be or how to check for it I would greatly appreciate the input.

I'm very happy with the woodgrain texture in the bottom of the relief.

It was all done in ArtCAM Pro. The woodgrain is a relief I created from a picture of wood.

David,

I've been wondering what "solid surface material" is ever since I saw it listed in the Onsrud catalog. Can you help me out?

John,

If I understand your question correctly "solid surface material" is Corian or counter top material that is not marble, etc.

Solid surface is generally an acrylic countertop surface that can be found under different brand names, Corian is the most recognizable brand name. Formica has it's own SS line, there's a low end brand called Hanex, etc...

It's a dream to work with, cuts good and is easily repaired.

I'm going to try and cut a piece of 1/2" today that I found at Habitat. I searched the forum for any information on cutting speeds to no avail. Any ideas? Do you need to go slower than wood? I cut out a test piece in particle board and it looks like a winner.

Mike,

I'll try and bring a piece by next week so you can see what it's doing.
