Hello all,

I'm hoping someone on here can help me out. I'm starting up a new business fabricating concrete furniture & countertops (not many people doing this in the UK yet).

I'm about to cast my own kitchen counter as an example, and that's where I have the problem. I've got an under-mounted sink, so I will need a form to use in the mould to make a void in the concrete. I'm hoping to cut this out of mdf on a local ShopBot - I've downloaded the technical drawings from Franke and uploaded them:

This is where I get stuck! First problem is I use a Mac, so having problems with finding suitable software. Second problem is my specialities lie in IT, and latterly concrete - CAD is fairly low down the list!

I'm hoping someone could 'reverse' the cut out, leaving me with a file I can use in Partworks3D (I think ?) to use on the machine,

I know this is a long shot, but if anyone could help out, I'd be extremely grateful,

Andy

Use foam for the form easy to remove mdf you might chip removing

There should be a template with 1/4 masointe just trace

Hi Kevin, Thanks for that. Maybe I am 'over engineering' the whole problem. There is a cardboard template, but I ideally wanted something more accurate, and that could be adjusted to height, then stick some pvc around to create a nice edge.

Cheers,

hi
you have dxf and you want 3d files?

I think it's a 2d file I need, I'd like to be left with a 12mm deep shape, with 90deg edges. With 2 of these I can sandwich them to make up 32mm and then edge with flexi pvc.

Essentially, if you look at the first file BBX160AU.dxf, which is the sink cuto-out for a worktop, I'd like the machine to cut outside, rather than inside, the white line. Hope this makes sense?!

You can import the dxf into Partworks and use as is. Set your own toolpath.
