I went back to the beginning of the posts in the Ecabs section to this link:
http://www.thermwood.com/forums/view...f=3&t=9101

but it was dead. I don't do cabinets but i have a company that wants me to do their cutting for them for their cabinets. I don't have any drawings or ideas of what they will be yet but i would like to get some comprehensive information on the Ecabs link of what it will do and won't do, how it will help production, and other relevant info. I went here:
http://www.ecabinetsystems.com/ecabinet_systems_shopbot_link.htm
http://www.shopbottools.com/ecabinets.htm

A couple initial questions:
Can you design on your computer in the house and take files to the computer in the shop and run them?

Does shop computer need to be hooked to internet?
The $1295.00 cost, is that yearly or one time?

There may be many other questions i need to ask but unsure what to ask. I know Gary Campbell and others are users and experts on the link so how complicated will this be to a newbie who hasn't done much cabinet work?

Do I even need this? A lot of this obviously will depend on how much cabinet cutting he wants me to do but i would like to go in with a little background info.

downloaded and installed the ecab demo link, is there any sample files i can load to familiarize myself with the way it operates? (found some...)

i would start by asking the cabinetmaker what software he uses and how he intends to provide the cut information.

As James said, the first question is what the shop uses that you would do the work for.

The 1295 is a one time purchase.

You don't need the bot pc connected to the net.

If you have no cabinet building background, it will be a pretty steep hill to climb.

More so the design program than the cutting link.

If the shop already uses ecabs and needs you to cut for them, it won't be bad. If you have to learn ecabs to do the cutting, I doubt it would be worth it for a non cabinet maker.

If you are pretty sure there would be lots of repeat buisness,,,, maybe. lol
