What version are you two running with this problem?

Mine did not work on version 3.6.20

I made my own custom 99 file and it works that way.
If you only have one z and no air drill or other things on your machine you can go into the sbparts/cutsom/c99 file and just write your own.

Mine is very simple but if you have a complicated machine it won't work for you.

JZ,4
J2,0,0

This is all that is in my file.

Bill your jh is dangerous.

If your bit is down in a piece of material, it will start moving in all three axis at the same time. it is safer to pull the z up first before running the x and y

I'm not sure this is your issue, but I vaguely recall having similar issues when I installed on my D: drive, instead of C: - after I moved it, all was well. Of course I'm still running XP, and there are other issues on Vista and 7.

Whenever i did a JH and the bit started lowering i always hit the spacebar and stopped it for fear of ruining something.

Well yesterday i let it go and what it is doing when you first hit JH is the Z lowers itself to 0, then it moves across to X,0 Y0.

The problem with that is if you are currently at a lower Z then material height...you lose!

It didn't use to do that, it used to raise up first then start to move to like a safe Z height of 1".

Jack...
Your Custom99 file should be in the C:\SbParts\Custom folder. It is very unlikely that it is missing, unless you deleted it. You should always keep a backup of your SbParts folder.

Some of the new enhancements to the software have added folders for the ATC & MTC toolchangers. Each of those should be also have a folder inside the Custom folder. When I upgrade the software I rename the SbParts & Custom folders only as I have nothing else in the SbParts folder. I then install the software. After install I rename the OEM (so I can look and see what the boys in Durham are mucking with) or simply delete all that has been installed. I must do this as I have no OEM files on my machine, all are either replaced or modified versions of OEM. There is a good and bad to this. The good is that any user modified files are not overwritten (and lost) by the install. The bad is that you may not have all the latst goodies, especially if they did a bug fix on one or more of the files. Lets hope the internal changes are slowing down. My ATC machine lost its brain totally with the upgrade to 3.6.24. Nothing in the software, just a mismatch of variables in some of the files. I finally sat down and rewrote all the ATC files and put in support for the SB Link and my modified Vectric posts. With some of the stuff that has been appearing with new versions the new motto might be: SB3, if it aint broke, keep fixing it til it is!

When the "updates" are comming out fast and furious, you gotta be carfull. What ever happend to beta testing?

3.6.14 was pretty stable.

I got the 3.6.20 running, but it has some problems like the one Jack also found. Mine went below zero, breaking bits though.

Anybody want to run a test? Download the newest software. Start a file.
Hit the space bar, cancel the file. Then hit JH and watch the fun.

Kenneth...
My guess is that many of these glitches are the result of the software developers attempts at making the software pause and then be able to resume, like Mach, Win CNC or others that the "big guys" offer on their machines.

I am not sure that this is the issue they currently are working on, just a guess. Truth is, that it very seldom, if ever worked. Never if a Z or A plunge was in motion. Even sadder is that it now works worse than it ever did. If you can pause a cutting file and then resume you are a much better man than I. I dont have the cahoneys to hit resume. I resquare the machine, and home all 3 axes, then proceed. Resume is what the "ol guys" used to do in the DOS days. :D:D

This is not to say that Jacks problem is not due to a totally unrelated issue. But then again I dont believe in co-inky-dink.

Ya, the last time I had resume work was in 3.5.20 and for gods sake, don't try it with the link running.

After deleting the oem c99 and making my simple file though, I can cancel a file, jog home and restart with good luck.

I think they may need a program to de-bug the program.
