First, I had to hit the button and didn't see what line it was on but i was it was at 92%. How can I figure out what line to restart at would be at 92%?

But more importantly, you can probably look at the picture and figure out what happened.

Mt material is 2.75 thick. I had to insert my bit to where there was only 1.75" of bit exposed in order to be able to Z my bit to material surface without it topping out. If i made it longer it would top out.

Heres the dumb part...even though i had made a pocket toolpath to clear out most all material around the part first in order so that the collet wouldn't rub on the material I didn't think about the bottom or the top section of the part where the bit had to go down to clear material out. So the router bottomed out at the bottom of the material and defaulted and i had to stop it.

My long explaination is to ask this question, how can i If at all get any deeper with my Z without topping or bottoming out?

My safe Z is set at .25 for the file and for the setting in the control software.
How can i save this part? Even if i have to start the finish pass over i can do that?

As I write i think i might have the answer...
I think i have to go back to the model and eliminate the cutting pass on the bottom and top by eliminating that part of the model, not sure how to explain, if it works i'll show but if you have a better solution i need to hear it!

Jack...
Looks like you better learn how to slice those models.

Looks like you will be going down the street to your friends sign shop to borrow his ArtCam some more ;);)

I can't tell you how many trips back and forth i've made so far...good thing he's only about 4 blocks away!

Jack,

Would it help to gain a little extra travel before topping out? Not knowing how your machine is set up, but could you remove the stop for the z axis to gain just a little more height allowing you to extend the bit just a little further out of the collet? Take it to just before the pinion disengages the rack. I've been able to eek out just a bit more travel on my PRS that way for a special situation. Be sure to put the stop back when finished.

Could nudge the router up in the holder a bit too.

I figured out the answer. I drew a vector box around the part and made it a bit smaller then the part to not include the very top and bottom. I will try this tomorrow....
