I just was offered an opportunity to frame and mat pictures for a company. I was looking at some of the mat cutting tools and came across a computerized mat cutter. Has anyone done mat cutting on the ShopBot? How and How well did it work?
Thanks.
I do custom framing but have never cut mats on my shopbot
I use a cnc designed specifically for mat cutting (generically called a cmc for computerized mat cutter)I cut mats with it every day
software and hardware is specific to the picture framing business and is very good. almost any shape can be designed and cut quickly and efficiently
mats are normally cut with special razor blade set at 40 or 45 deg. angle
I do use my shopbot to cut special shaped frames with though

Butch - I looked into this a long time ago. As Randy eluded to, you would need a special head on your Shopbot to cut picture mats. I couldn't find anyone that sold anything that would work.

Thanks
I was afraid of that. I thought I could save a few hundred dollars and make my ShopBot do the work.
Thank you for your help.
