Hello David,

I am afraid that you can only import PDF files that contain vectors into
Aspire.
If you are seeing this message, the PDF file that you are trying to import,
contains bitmaps.

I hope that this helps.

Cheers,

Mark.

The standard free Adobe for pdf formats will not save anything as a vector. I am not sure, but you would probably have to purchase one of the professional versions to get this feature.

I have used www.zamzar.com (http://www.zamzar.com) to convert pdf files into bitmap files a few times. The website has worked well for me. I then take the bitmap and trace it in Aspire or Vcarve Pro.

you can import ext pdf's without a problem. say convert a word text doc into pdf and it can be imported directly.

A lot depends on the starting format. If you've got a bitmap displayed in a program and you use one of the excellent free PDF printer such as CutePDF or BullZip PDF then you'll have a PDF that contains a bitmap.

However if you print a vector image from a program that supports vectors then you get a PDF with a vector picture in it.

Printing web pages will get you the text as vectors and the borders for divisions and tables as vectors as well.
