I am not sure the correct procedure for starting a file at a certain line number. For example, I am cutting out a part in 3d. I have already roughed it out and starting the finish pass. Except I have created a clearance boundry around the object for the collet. The finish pass wants to cut this boundry first, but then the part will be loose. This is just a test in foam so I can skip the boundry cut. I looked in the file and see the 3d machining starts at line 41. How do I start the router and then skip to line 41. Thanks.

OK, I just found the FG command in the book. Well I knew it was in the book I just found the section that explains how to use it. I didn't realise that it gave the option to either go to a line or start from a line which is what I wanted.

Just a quick warning, while doing a line number restart the machine will really do just what you tell it! So if you tell it to start at line 41 that's where it will start regardless of where you currently have the head/bit set! Before starting at line 41, position your head/bit over where you really want the machine to start. If you don't there is a very good possibility of your machine cutting a very long groove until it gets to where line 41 actually starts cutting. Please do not ask me how I know this very painful expensive lesson! :) Russ

You could also cut and paste the code to put the 3D machining before the outline cut and then just run the file from the beginning.

Russ, Great tip that is exactly what it did. Luckily it was only foam board for testing.
David, Good ideal, this project has many small parts and I need them to be held in place until the end.
Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!
