Hi: I am purchasing a 48x96 standard. Can anyone tell me if there are partworks files on the web, that are ready to upload to produce projects? Will the partworks software allow me to be up and running in no time?
Thanks for any and all replies. Joe.

There are some sample files that come with partworks that you should be able to run as soon as you get your machine moving. There are also some tutorials and more samples on the Vectric website. Ask Shopbot if you can get the software info sent ahead of your machine and start learning it right away. By the time your machine arrives you'll have a hard time deciding what to cut first.

To answer your question yes there are a few projects out there that are ready to cut.
The best advice I can give you is to download the demo version of VCarve Pro aka partworks from Vectric. It takes a bit of practice to become proficient drawing more complicated things but you really can do quite a bit right away. The good news is you can start playing with the software long before you buy, or receive your machine.
I would also get the demo for Aspire and play around with that. You can purchase it as an upgrade later, but I am glad I bought it since it paid for its self within about 3 jobs.
The best way to learn to draw in any cad software is to pick a project you feel comfortable with and start drawing. You will learn lots of little tricks along the way that make things easy.

You can download a sample copy of Vectric and begin learning it...

The best idea is to visit someone nearby who can show you a few things to get you started.
There are dozens of things to learn, but you need to find out what the first 20 are first..... which will take you a long ways...
From there, you learn things one or two at a time.

If you think you're excited now just wait until those big plywood boxes arrive!

The hardest part will be the anticipation that will come with your partially assembled shopbot sitting idle while you set it up. Basic signs, and shop projects are a good way to get a feel for the machine.
When you encounter problems, the first thing you should ask your self is what did you tell the machine to do, and that will probably lead you the answer your after.
The only way to learn is to forge ahead and cut stuff so once you learn the first few critical steps the rest is just pushing the limits and trying new stuff.
