I got alot of good advise from my first post, but now I have another question. I have read several threads about vacuum systems and I read one from Gary and it looks like he used melamine coated particle board for his vacuum system.

My question is, If I cut my vacuum pattern in the top side of a piece of melamine for my vacuum riser and seal it, will it work ok with a spoil board on top. I have lots of double sided 3/4" melamine left over instead of plywood.

This might be a typical section for a vac table... lots of other methods for this I am sure.

I would think you would want at least a 1 inch plywood base with your melamine plenum over that if you want.

Not sure how your top trupan, (if you use that) will glue to the melamine surface...

Collect a few opinions...

If it's particle core, no I wouldn't use it for a plenum, but it would make a decent first support layer.

If it's mdf core, it would work, but I would knock the top off of it (surface) as the mel won't make a good glue surface for your spoilboard.
