I am drilling 5MM holes in the bottom of some pullouts. I am zeroing to the bottom of the drawer. When the file starts it goes to 0,0 and goes down about an inch into the frame so the drawer. I have set the safe z pull up value [VC] to 2. This should be plenty of space for it to pull up and move to the first drill spot and drill. Can anyone explain what I am doing wrong and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance. Todd

did you check your safe Z values in your cam software?
I had a problem once and I found my safe Z had somehow been set to 20" within Aspire.

I did check that in the shopbot software. It is set to 2 inches for safe Z but is not doing that when I run the part file. I am using partworks with a drill toolpath. Is there someplace else I need to check?
Thank you.

Todd,
In PartWorks, under Material Setup on the Toolpaths tab, you can change the home z and also the Clearance if you need it to be higher between each hole. See attached
The VC setting in SB3 will only affect the position the Z will go to when a jog home (JH), a S, a spacebar, or an Enter is hit on the keyboard.

Scott,
Thank you . This is where the trouble was. I got it now.

Good, I hope it only took one trashed drawer. ;)
