View Full Version : Machining odd shaped part?

This piece is 3/4" thick x 2 1/8" wide and 4' long. Red Oak. Its 3/8" thick on the thin side and has a 3/4" wide flat on top. It has a t slot that is angled differently on both ends. Not sure if this is possible on the bot.

I think you'd have to fixture the workpiece at an angle so the bottom of the slot is parallel to the table, to cut the bottom and the narrow end of the slot, then re-position as you have shown to cut the wide end of the slot.

The customer sent me a picture of the real piece. It is not slotted different on 2 sides. Now I can use a t slot bit as long as I hold the piece on an angle like David says.
