Hello,

Here is the latest project I created (for March 2011), and is available as a free download, courtesy of Vectric! http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/projects/march-2011/paradise-box.htm

• I arranged and tweaked the vectors in VCarve Pro 6, then calculated the toolpaths, etc. I used a ShopBot PRSAlpha BT48 to run this project and the toolpath settings were specifically for that machine and bits I used.

• The project is compatible with the current versions of VCarve Pro and Aspire (Aspire 3 and VCarve Pro 6 at the time of this writing)

I used the following bits:
Chamfer V-Carves: 90° V-Bit
Main V-Carves: 60° V-Bit *
Cut Profiles: 1/4" Down-Cut Spiral

* a CMT-brand “laser-point” 60° V-Bit was used to create the sample

You will most likely need to make changes to the feed/speed settings for your own machine/bits, although I tried to be fairly conservative with the settings to begin with. I hope you enjoy the project!

Here’s what I used on my own “Paradise Box” project made from Maple:

• Minwax Natural stain #209
• 4 coats of Krylon Crystal Clear Gloss Acrylic spray
• 2 coats of Minwax water-based Clear Satin polycrylic (brushed on)

Thanks to ShopBot and Vectric for providing us with such wonderful tools!

Mike: Nice job, how long did it take you to machine/carve on the shopbot? Thanks Joe.
