You don't have to dig very far into the Sketchchair article until you find 100k garages.

The sketch chair stuff is too cool. I hope they are able to make it a reality.

From what i read for a donation of $20.00 you can get the prototype program. If anyone gets it i'd like to see what the output files look like. It does look cool.

You get the beta after they meet their funding goal via kickstarter. Your card does not get charged until the project is fully funded, which is why you don't get the beta until the funding goes through.

Hopefully this turns out to be something, and not just vaporware. Looks like they have a great concept. I have tons of sketches of chair cross sections floating around I would love to mess with.

I pledged $25.00 so if they meet their goal and distribute the beta I will definitely post about it.

I pledged $25 also. Looks like it would be fun to play with so hopefully they get funded to develop it. Someone with an logon on cnc zone should post it over there and see if we can help them along. I put a topic up on Vectric's forum.

A quick update on SketchChair. It's currently 75% funded on Kickstarter with 37 days left. Even if you don't imagine yourself designing a chair, who knows where helping to support a project like this that promotes CNC cutting could lead.

Me too...it seems to me that even if you didn't want to make the chair like the examples you see it still would make for a good structure of a chair even if you incorparated somehow cushions or backrests, ect.

I'm sure that you've pledged already Jack, but just in case you haven't there's still time...there's 30-odd days to go and they're at 85%.

Designing a chair from scratch, and making the necessary prototypes can take months. Too add to that people usually buy chairs in sets, so you have to figure out a system to make them after working out the design, and engineering.

This could be very useful just to test ergonomics, and balance prior to building a real mock up.

Now as far as the potential of creating a marketable chair there may be some interesting possibilities.

I certainly hope they can make this a reality.
