On Feb 28, 2011 I posted a modification I made to my desk, thatyou can see at this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjCBwrwi1y8
My old type chase lock is working vey well with anything 1/4 of an inch high or thicker, but when it came to name plates and flat pieces of engraving material, I could not use it, I built a jig out of plywood and that did not work either, so remmenbered I had the solution in my basement, my old engraving machine table(you can see it in above video), which is made out of aluminum and very well machined,in two halfs of 12' x 20", I droped one half inside my frame in the desk top and locked with my old type chase lock, I have to level it up a hair and I use allen 1/4" plug in the holes already drilled and tapped in the corners.
You can see my first job, a temple for the manual engraving machine, my wife is very happy with the way was engraved, very nice and clean with square corner, I never could get it like that with my old engraving machine.
