Attached are a few unique sample A's I've gathered over the years. If anyone would like to a DXF to route as samples I'll send.

Some of these are excellent as V Carve while others work best with round over bits and cutouts. I've found 7" in height works out well. I wanted to post these as wire frame but they appeared too faint.

If anyone cuts some of these I'm sure everyone would enjoy seeing what you came up with. I may post a few myself.

Ah Joe… you do know that there are 25 other letters in our alphabet… Seriously, I’m curious why the fascination with “A” ?

And yes I’d like the DFX versions!

Thanks
Steve

I would also love to have access to some of the DXF files. Even more I would like to know the names of the fonts, if they are fonts. I can't seem to pick out the interesting stuff from the list of font names. I do love to look at the Letterhead Font site, just haven't pulled out the credit card yet to buy them.
I do think this post will force me to start cutting some samples
Thanks
Bob

OK boys I need a little help!

Please Email me with a request for A's so I can attach your file back and re-send. It will speed up the process on this end. I sent out the first batch and it took a little too long with my bubledgy fingers.

I've collected these letters for a long time and have no idea about their names. Some my be OP but most are easily found, if you have lots of fonts.

Thanks for all the emails fellows.

After a lifetime making signs, I still sharpen my skill with little exercises like making letter samples. I have two suggestions. The first is to use textures. Stay from too much finishing at first. You can apply textures with rattle cans, or applying spackle with a brush. Revome 75% if that with sandpaper, then paint.

These were misted with a rattle can of "Rocker Panel Spray" purchased from the local auto finish shop. The roundover affect was simply done with a brad point bit. It's nothing more than a profile cut. No 3D on these. Just go around the letter, then cut em out.

My second suggestion is to stay away from glossy finishes. Leave the One Shot on the shelf. At some point you may want look into Sculpt Nouveau to give them a metal look.

One more note on letter architecture.

Each and every one of these letters deserves respect. Even the lowely Helvetica letter went through hundreds of years refinement. There is little understanding or appreciation, by the general of font architecture. These are some of the classics.

For those that are looking for DXFs of the above "A"s you should just be able to import those images into partworks and then use "fit vectors to bitmap". Once the vectors are created just export the selected vectors to DXF in the file menu. Hope this helps.

Joe,
Can you send me the DXF file? I'd love to cut several of these. Email is in signature.
