Hello everyone,

I'm attempting to cut out a goat image similar to the link below and inlay it into a piece of wood. So I would need to pocket the image out of my piece and then cut the image out separately and inlay this into the original pocket. However, I'm curious to know what bit and cutting techniques would help me achieve the desired detail and points/intersections for, let's say, the horns so I don't have rounded edges?

As always any help would be most appreciated...

Thanks,

Patrick

Patric,

You might want to look at http://www.vectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=564&start=0. The method was developed to keep extremely high level of detail while using conventional sized bits. Try a couple of inlays with scrap wood first. I think the concensus is that 60 degree bits work the best.

If you search the forum for V inlay you'll find some very nice inlays done by several people.
