David Buchsbaum of Beacon Custom Woodwork, Inc. (404-292-1550) did his introduction to Shopbot class on July 7 & 8, 2011. I attended the class and wanted to share my review of the course.

If you are going to purchase a shopbot or have recently purchased a shop bot put this class on your list of "must-have's!"

In the span of 2 days David covered the ins and outs of setting up the machine, the finer points of tool path planning, using the partworks software, using the shop bot control software, editing the shopbot files using BASIC langage commands, setting up sutomated zeroing, post-processor configuration, available CAD/CAM software, and estimating job prices for customers.

I am confirdent that 2 days in this course saved me at least 150-200 hours of fumbling in the dark with the learning curve.

I am at the point I can not only setup the machine but I can use the programming language to fully leverage all the capabilities the shopbot tool platform has to offer me.

David was attentive, flexible, and a hell of a great guy to work with. I would highly recommend this class to anyone buying a shop bot, even at 3x the price.

My expectations were exceeded and my questions are answered.

I am ready to make chips.

A great class!

I would like to send a special thank you to David and Beacon Custom Woodwork's for a job exceedingly well done!

I would have to 100% agree with Charles. I do not have a bot yet but took the class a couple of months ago in anticiaption. There were only 2 of us in the class but David did not cut corners. I have known of him for a number of years now and he is always a first class act and VERY knowledgeable in so many areas of woodworking.

Definitely a must have class for anyone considering a bot.
