I have a 7.5 HP 3phase motor I need to run on a single phase supply. I decided to use a VFD and have 2 choices lined up there is a slight cost difference, but I hate making a decision based upon price. I was hoping that I could get some feedback about any experiences with either or both. Here are links for each VFD:

I'm fairly certain that you need a 15hp VFD to run 3ph @ 7.5hp with single phase input. Neither of the drives you selected are correct. The 15hp one takes 3ph input. You may be hard pressed to find a single phase 15hp VFD, so you may have to go the rotary converter route.

Best bet would be to call the vendor and ask them what they recommend - as it would be in their best interest not to have a return because it didn't fit your application.

Since VFD's for spindles are often configured to run on single phase it may be doable with the Hitachi 15 just as the Delta 10 runs the 5HP spindle by feeding it single phase and having the settings correct. I would contact their customer service. It's also worth a call to Delta and/orPrecision Drive regarding theirs since we know that they know how to make that happen. You may find the info by carefully going through the manual available on the link you provided.
Remember that although the internet is powerful sometimes the best way to get an answer is to call someone on the phone!
A limiting factor may be the startup power required for the motors. Spindles don't need much but most shop motors spike on power usage when you start them up.

I've got the Polyspede PC1-75, been using it for 4 years to run regenerative blowers. If you study and compare the specs, you can see that they have de-rated the 15 HP model and call it the PC1-75. I'm happy with it, also have two Hitachi drives for my spindles, but not the model series you are showing. The PC1-75 control panel can be remotely located by using a CAT5 cable as an extension cord.

Both of the above listed drives were recommended to me by the supplier and should fit my specs. I am looking for anybodys personal experience on the quality and performace of these brands.
