I have been using the pressure foot since it came out. it works great and it makes it easier to cut thin materials and plastic. Now I can always use an uncut bit. I cut 11 sheets of dibond with it today not on part came loose.
but sometimes the action would stick a bit. I think the plastic foot may change a bit in size with humidity. Usually thats not an issue but when I cut these giant full table stencils the material would lift up and the tip of the bit begin exposed because the foot did not retract enough it would gouge the material. Plus I have worn the original foot and the hole is larger because sometimes I don't get the foot on tight enough on my prt. Again not a design fault. the replacement feet I have made work about the same. I wanted something that was really smooth so I played with making the spacing for the screw holes more accurate. I changed the distance by .001 and made test cuts till it was perfect. about .001 to .002 was enough to make it less then smooth.
I plan or planned on making the ring out of aluminum but we will see. I want to see f I need the angled inside I think I will but I want to keep the inside as large as possible. with short bits shavings can get jammed in there. I am thinking I may be able to make a textured pad that will keep the shavings from scratching material when the material is delicate.

I like it steve, sometimes if I cut a hole with a smaller bit the little "pellet" with lift the foot and press against the collet, so I should pocket that hole instead, but I like your catcher idea. Russ certainly did come up with a great little gizmo there. Good job both of youse.
