Had a wacky job today of making two ostrich eggs for Nike. as usual Nike wants it like yesterday and they usually don't give good drawings. but this one worked I imported the 3d file into aspire and sliced it and cut it out of 1.25" mdf with a 1/2" ballnose bit.
I just glued them up in the vac bag then sanded them smooth. the sanding part was a pain it is hard to hold an egg. I used a palm sander and my inflatable drum sander and bondo to smooth the bad parts out.

If you think making those eggs was tough just think if you had to lay them?

I recall a time when you were about ready to cash it all in, it seems like things have turned around for you which is great news:D

We all thought you were a "Good Egg", I guess this proves it!

I never posted about cashing it in. though I never made much money but it's this or McDonalds (G)
these would have been far easier on a lathe but they wanted it now. nike is bad about that providing less then steller plans/drawings and wanting it yesterday but willing to pay for it.

Shopbots can do alot, but, I would have chucked it up in my jet 1642EVS
and grabbed a skew and gouge... but use the tools you have at hand.

Good work and remember there is always more than one way to skin a feline.

if I had time I would have found a turner. but there are few here that are not just retired guys that do things when they want. well it was a good 300.00 job. I finally sold my lathe as I did not have room and I hate turning.
