What would be the Ideal com port to set the bot on?

Jimmy...
I dont think there is an Ideal port, but the SB controller needs to be on an ENHANCED port. You can check this by running the "USB View" app. It is located in C:\Program Files (or X86 if 64 bit)\ShopBot\Diagnostics. While you are in there, run the "speed test.exe" and check your comm rate. Usually anything over 70% works good.

Look thru the tree and make sure that the ShopBot AND its USB 2.0 Hub are shown under an enhanced port. VERY IMPORTANT! The hub is REQUIRED because Windows does not recognize the SB controller as a 2.0 device. This could be as a result of the controller card chip or Windows. Either way, the hub needs to be there.

BTW, they usually show up on port 3 or 4 on my installs.

Thanks, Gary I thought that would be the case. I did a speed test and it was 86.9

Hi Jimmy,
86.9! Wow  If you're not getting any comm errors, don't let any of us jealous types talk you out of that PC any time soon ;)

I added a hub and a PCI card, it was about 72% before I made the changes, Thanks to Brady and others who suggested I add them. No com problems so far.

I always plug in the Shopbot USB's the same way... but

Are certain ports only located on certain USB outlets ?
