What program will open a DXF? I have a customer that wants me to send him a picture of a drawing I made in Aspire. I saved it as a DXF but I can't seem to open it in what would be considered "normal programs" on a computer. What program would he be able to use to open it? He has no Cadd programs so I am confused as to what he could use. Thanks!!!

See if you can download a free program called Solid Edge viewer..... http://www.plm.automation.siemens.com/en_us/products/velocity/solidedge/freeviewer/index.cfm
It can open DXF files.

Hi Daryl,

There a a number of free dxf viewers online, as well as full blown 2d CAD programs, like DraftSight.

Other options: Export as .eps and use something like IrfanView. If he just wants to see your work, why not simply save the toolpath preview image?

Best regards,
Ron

Hi Daryl,
he may plan on using a DXF viewer similar to something like this.
http://www.edrawingsviewer.com/pages/products/DWG-DXF-Viewer.html (http://www.edrawingsviewer.com/pages/products/DWG-DXF-Viewer.html)
there a number of them out there.
Or you can send the drawing to me and i will make a pdf out of it and send them back.

Glad to hear that the next upgrade will include the ability to print. Strange thing is I never tried to print until today and I couldn't find it! I guess I know why. My customer wanted a DXF so he could have some labels printed from the label I had on his drawing. Thanks and I will forward the info given to me.

By the way I did give him a "Save preview image". He wanted the DXF so he could have printing made. Thanks again!

When converting to a dxf make sure your layer with your work on it has a layer name that is acceptable to the CAD software.
