Need help in finding where I can tell the Shopbot software that my Indexer is mounted parallel to the "X" axis.

Thanks

Not clear on what you mean. Do you mean when you are using your software (Whatever it is) to create the file? or when you want to cut it?

Do you mean you want to set up the indexer in the control software?
Give a little more detail and/or post a file then we can figure out what you are trying to do.

Short answer is set up the control software.

Long answer is that I am trying to use Aspire's new wrapping gadget. The PP from Shopbot for wrapping about the "Y" axis when using the wrapper gadget does not work. It will only turn the indexer with the J5 commands, not the M5 ones. I am hoping that my problem is that I have the wrong set up in my Shopbot software. This is because the indexer moves with both the J5 and M5 commands when I use the PP for wrapping about the "X" axis. Of course this will not work for me when my indexer is parallel to the "X: axis.

For ShopBots, the 4th axis is always the B Axis - it doesn't mater if you're wrapping the X or Y around the 4th axis. The A Axis is reserved for a second Z setup. (At least that's what I read in the documentation. I bet there's more than one of us who's running a 5 axis SB right now.)

I don't recall a setting in SB3 that specifies which axis is being wrapped.

You may want to check your post processor... With the new 4th axis features they've added a new PP command: ROTARY_WRAP_Y = A or ROTARY_WRAP_X = B

These commands are explained in the Vectric Documentation at:

http://www.vectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6213

One thing that's not in their docs - you can add a "-" sign to reverse the direction of rotation, which may be necessary depending on how your motor is attached to the axis (if you care about turning in the conventional 4th axis direction.)

Thanks for the input Todd,

Maybe this is too simple, but is this what you're looking for?

Hi John,

Yep, that is what I was looking for. That was not my problem however, I did have the setting correct, but now I know.

I have since emailed Shopbot and the problem does appear to have been the PP from Shopbot had an error that prevented my indexer from reading the "M5" commands. I still will do more testing to confirm this.

Thanks to all for your help.

Not sure if this is related but a while back the control software would not move the indexer in the B axis and Ted made sure it was in the next upgrade (this was a while back) so what version of the software are you using? You may need to upgrade?

Jack,

The problem was an error in the PP from Shopbot. This PP was written for the new Wrapping feature for Aspire. Shopbot corrected the error and the Indexer is working fine now.
