Okay, I will admit it. Sometimes, I am a Luddite. Does anyone have a grounding diagram they can send me? I have read the "grounding your shopbot wiki" but get confused about what to do after Step 4, (well really after Step 2). If someone could post a diagram, then that would be a huge help to me.
Hope all is well.

Peter...
IF you have some specific questions, post them, I will do my best to answer.

I will post a couple of different ways I interpret the grounding wiki. Hopefully, one them is correct.

Okay, here are my two different interpretations of the Grounding your Shopbot Wiki. In Diagram 1, I have tied the ground wires together and then run a wire to ground. In Diagram 2, they are tied together at the ground point. The boatbuilder side of me says that in Diagram 1, we have the possibility of creating a ground loop. Is either one better than the other?

Peter:
I have had my bot grounded similar to diagram 1 for years now although the control box, CPU, and computer are grounded independantly. The main ground lead goes to a grounded receptacle box since all our boxes are industrial style with common ground through the EMT.

Sounds good. I will follow Diagram 1 then.

Use a multimeter to check the connections.
If you use a combination of serial and parallel connections, everything will work as long as there is no resistance between connections.
On my 'bot, I daisy-chained the 'Z' to the 'Y' to the 'X' and then I ran that in parallel with the control computer to the grounding lug.
The meter showed no resistance between any two points.
It worked for me.

Peter...
My version was similar to #1. There could be a possible improvement by running each machine connection back to one single point, but in reality, I believe that if you pass Mikes ohmeter test, all will be good.

Ok. Now for a dumb question, or a couple of dump questions. How do I ground the UPS when it has a plastic case? And if the Shopbot control box is plugged into the UPS with a 3 prong plug, isn't it grounded anyway?

Most of my reading about grounding/comm issues has the wire from the dust foot connected to the dust collector (which is how we had it run this past year), but the Shopbot recommended method is to tie it into a common ground. Which is correct?
