I'm trying to locate a post from awhile ago.
He had created a program that drilled many holes to create a picture.
If remember correctly he had a WW2 plane and a large building on display.
I've done some searching but no luck
Thanks Brian

I recall that, it was that triangular building in NYC and I emailed and talked to the guy but I don't remember his name, so tell us, so we can go..."oh yeah, now i remember!"

I think Brian was looking for Ari Krupnik who brought in his "dot pix"to the Shopbot Camp in Sunnyvale, CA back in 2008. I'll try to attach them to this post.
PS- The triangular building is known as the "Flatiron building" in NYC and it was one of the first "skyscrapers"in the City

I went to that site recently and it looks similar to what this was but for some reason I don't think it was the same guy as what i remember. What I saw was 3-4 years ago and I thought the guy had a jewish sounding name and curly dark hair, so it might not be the same thing i'm thinking of, who knows however if it does the same thing you want to do then i guess it doesn't matter.
The guy might have changed his site and pictures around and i'm just not rememering correctly...
Bill beat me to it, now i can say "yeah, thats him...!"

Ari Krupnik is the one
Unfortunately I can't use the suggested program(Vectoraster4)as I don't have a mac.
I'll be asking some friends if they can download the program to convert files for me.

Here's a couple of little programs I came across some time ago. I haven't had the time to try them, but the results look cool.
By choosing lines, you could have something similar to PhotoVcarve.

If you're feeling very adventuresome I've posted a utility in ShopBot Labs called "V-bit Artist" that inputs a jpg or bmp file and creates a part file with a pattern of holes based on the greyscale of the image. As with many things in ShopBot Labs it's rough, but has basic functionality.

Good luck,

Bill:
I tried to run the V-bit artist but get an error message (see attachment)
Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks

I'll check it out. Out of curiosity do you have the ShopBot software installed on the computer you're running it on? If not can you try it on a computer that has the ShopBot software...most of my utilities like this one use components that are installed by the ShopBot software to keep the downloads small and simple
