Hi

I new to the forum here and about to purchase a Buddy 48 for personal use.

Has anyone here imported a shopbot into Canada? And what what do I need to worry about, ie

Brokerage Fees
Duty
Taxes (PST GST)

since shopbot has sent machines all over the world, the best place to get the exact info you need would be a call to shopbot.
I had imported some video vending machines out of canada in the late 70's but that was before NAFTA, hey weren't we supposed to have free trade between borders? Hows that workin out?

Hey Mike,
I live just west of Edmonton and bought a Buddy 48 in Sept 2009 and it was super easy to have shipped. If you have some spare time you can save some money by picking up your machine from the shippers and also by dealing with all of the customs paperwork yourself. I had to get the paperwork from the shipping company that Shopbot chose and take it to the customs/shipping department at our international airport. If you do pick it up just be aware that it comes in a HUGE crate and is very heavy so make sure you have a forklift to get it off the trailor safely once you get it home.
Over all pretty easy and stress free, Shopbot makes it really easy.

Your gonna love it!!!

When I bought my Shopbot I got two shipping quotes one to my Canadian address and one to the nearest USA border town to my home. There was a significant shipping cost saving having it shipped to the US town. I then went to the local Canada custom office found out what information and paperwork I would need to bring it across the border by myself and found out it wasn't that difficult to do. Had the unit shipped to the US address and went with my truck and trailer and picked it up and spent maybe 15 minutes at customs doing the paperwork and that was it.
