Can anyone recommend a small wood laser system to put a
person's logo onto his products.

My friend makes very high quality wooden bowels and collection plates. They are gorgeous!

He has a wood burner to burn his company name and logo in but it is very inconsistent and would like to convert to a small table mounted laser instead.

Can anyone recomment a small unit. He said he could spend around to $2000.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Bob,
I'm guessing you meant to say 'bowls'....not bowels. Gives new meaning to 'cutting a log' :D

I wouldn't recommend anything other than Epilog or Universal as a laser engraver. They are way more than $2k, but they are reliable and you can get service, support and parts easily. (You can't even get a good used OLD ShopBot for $2k) The flood of cheap lasers from China leaves a lot to be desired & I have heard more than a few horror stories about small laser purchases off of Ebay et al. Just be careful if you do only spend $2k. Know what you are getting & warranty etc.

If you don't want to shell out for something now, I am sure there are PLENTY of people with lasers that would do engraving for you at a decent price, until you sell enough to get the proper machine.

If you got a press and a good quality regulated burner you can get even markings and it would cost far less then a laser.
here are a few

his burner does don't get consistent results because he has no good hold down thereby causing "BOWL MOVEMENTS":D

Bob:

Is the area getting "branded" curved? if so, I'm wondering how a laser will do.

I am glad it is Friday so I can recover from that.

Hi Bob,

If you are interested I have a Desktop (12" x 16") 25 watt Universal laser available in my shop. It has been used as a demo model for my local Universal Sales Rep.

I have the 18" x 24" 30 watt Universal system and it has been the best addition to my shop Since my Bot. The Laser has really opened up so many more avenues of income. Those two machines are a great combination.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have in regards to the machine. It would not be close to the 2k mark, however, it would be less than new.

Hope this helps,

Rick W.
