ready to cry I have been cutting polystyrene foam and lost a step along the Y I dont think its my rates .5 BN 25% stepover 180 in/min 60 plunge .0937 depth. Raster cut along Z with Aspire . not a complicated model, checked connections ect. Squaired up everything, no binding ,space between the motercog and rail, whatelse ? Thanks In advance. Dan Nelson

That hurts. Since it's foam can you patch it and continue from that spot. Another recent thread had similar issues and it was a driver going bad. I had the same thing the other day and am trying to find out if a driver can be checked with a meter.

Does it do the same thing if you cut it again?

If so it may be that you need to update the driver software, I had a similar issue 2 - 3 years ago and it was fixed with a software upgrade.

Also check the .sbp file to ensure that that isn't what it was told to do.

Consulted with Gary Beckwith today since we both run mach 3 and a assension controller. His welth of knowledge pointed me to a possible grounding problem, did a dedicated ground rod 7 ft in the ground , grounded machine and controller, re did the dust collection to the same dedicated ground and to the machine. grounded smooth stepper to control box. re set noise filter in mach .prayed . fire it up tomorrow and pray again.
