I know its cold, and if you would like to make ice balls here is an instructable on how to do it. The fact that he includes cad files for the construction was what made me interested in the project.

I can't imagine a time when I would ever want icy balls. Other than maybe cooling a large drink, can anyone think of 10 uses for icy balls?

I couldn't tell you if they're icy, they're on a mantel in a jar somewhere. Lost them in the divorce. -15 was the worst it's gotten so far this year add to that 20mph winds gusting up to 40 or so and clearing snow in a small articulated machine with a less then ideal cab and not even enough heat to defrost the windshield.

Another use- biodegradable x mas decorations on a large tree.

I used to live in a town located right on lake michigan and in the winter we would get lake effect snow and wind chill factors to -50 degrees. The steel mill parking lots were right close to the water and i would go out with my 1950 Ford F500 tow truck (big old orange monster) and jumpstart guys batteries for $5.00 or $10.00 between shift changes. I'd come home with 2-3 hundred bucks for an hour work. I recall seeing battery acid freeze and bust out the sides of a battery it was so cold.
That was more then i was making inside the plant on a shift crawling under those big slag pits knocking the slag off the buckets.

I soon quit working inside the plant and saw i made more for 1 hours work. That was the last job I had where i worked for someone else. That was when i was a teenager. I've worked for myself for the last 40 years.

you know you live in a cold place when you play ice hockey in your work boots on a frozen pond while drunk at 2:00 AM.

I go out and ski when the wind chills are -40 -50 because there are no crowds. Just other diehards.

We moved to Texas from Minnesota nearly 40 years ago... I still say Minnesota is a good place to be FROM!

I know of a few politicians that could use this to make replacements.

My uncle next door had a all concrete backyard because there was a a water rain runoff manhole thing back there and in the winter we would stuff rags on the hole and flood the yard with water and turn it into our own private skating rink.
