I don't need a lot more then what the two feins give. but I want something more reliable and that does not scream like the 220 vac motors I use now.
what size vac should I bet looking for? it seems like the smaller regenerative blowers are less then a fein but cost more. like this guy it seems it is less then a fein but almost twice the cost.

Steve- I use a Beckker vane pump. It gives high vacuum as an option, something like 27" Hg. And good flow at 10" Hg. Its not cheap, but its worked well for me. When my vacuum hold-down gets down to 15" I start looking around for whats wrong. I fein would be doing well to get as much as 15", probably more like 7 or 8.

I dont have any experience with feins so I cant be certain about that tho..

The pump IS medium noisy, about the same as my dust collector.

You want something that can do 8" Hg or better and 150 or more CFM. The pump you have listed only pulls 6.1" Hg & 98 CFM, which is worse than a single Fein @ 7.1" Hg and 126 CFM.

There are plenty of used pumps out there. It pays to do your research.

I would love to go that way but for my budget. I get at best with the feins around 7" or os. but I have been as low as 4 and still holding on sheet stock. if I save I may be able to buy a somewhat bigger setup but it could be awhile. but I don't have a backup while my fein is in repair again.
of course I would love to have more vac as I do so many things but I can't afford a 1/3 of my yearly earnings either.

What is your budget for a vacuum pump?

You should be able to find something decent for that. Look on Ebay, XFactory and CL. You really need to find out as much as you can about a pump before you buy. It isn't hard to get excited, confused and make a bad purchase because you thought inches of water was inches of mercury or something like that...Let the hunt begin.

I know what to check and sometiems it's not listed. what cfms shoudl I go for? the feins each have 120 so should I go for 240? I don't want anything below 9" I know that of course thats what I have now.
