well one more baffle to muffle my vac setup. so far I have not found much of any difference between the designs or material. I went lower on each one so the setup does not get in the way. I tried mdf and ply and they both seem the same. This one is the simplest design the parts just stack and I glue and brad nail them together.
This only works with the fein type motors like this guy http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/AMETEK-LAMB-ACDC-Vacuum-Motor-2M433
with this baffle on top of a van box and two of these motors it will knock down the decibel level from about 100 dbs to about 76 or less. but this only works for the above type motor. the triple bypass motors just don't benefit.
This is the lid for the box and the baffle that lets the air through the middle to the outside.

then the layers are built up I think I used 12 total on this one. the top piece shows where the pipe part lets the flow go to the middle section and down and up through the outside. so the design is simple and easy to do and works great. I will do a step by step on how to do it all here soon.
